Let me just say—this recent extended family photo session in San Diego was one for the books! Not only did we have three generations coming together for portraits, but we also had six (yes, six!) kids under the age of five.
If that sounds like chaos… well, it was. But it was also sweet, funny, loving, and full of those candid moments that make family photography so meaningful. These are the sessions I live for—real families, real connection, and a whole lot of heart.
San Diego really is the perfect place for a big family photo session. The light is golden, the beaches are beautiful, and there’s something magical about capturing multiple generations all in one place.
Extended family sessions are especially close to my heart. They don’t happen every day, and when they do, they’re a chance to freeze time—grandparents holding their grandbabies, cousins laughing, siblings reconnecting. It’s a celebration of everything that makes your family yours.

Let’s be honest: little kids don’t usually show up ready to smile on cue. And that’s completely okay. When I photograph families with young children, I focus on making the session feel fun and low-pressure. No stiff posing or forced grins—just play, connection, and a whole lot of patience.
Here’s how we made this extended family session work so well:
And let me tell you—these kids were adorable. We captured everything from group portraits to silly cousin moments, and even a few quiet shots of grandparents soaking it all in.

Whether you’re planning a beach day with the whole crew or celebrating a rare moment when everyone is in town, I’d love to help you capture it.
I specialize in San Diego extended family photography sessions and love working with families who have young kids. Every session is laid-back, full of connection, and tailored to your family.
So if you’re looking for a San Diego family photographer who will go with the flow, keep the kids smiling (most of the time!), and deliver a gallery full of love and laughter—you’re in the right place.
