Alexis Rachel Photography is a storytelling portraiture studio creating magical Heirloom images in stunning outdoor locations
I love to beautifully capture the parts of life that might otherwise seem ordinary. A romantic afternoon drive down the coast, picking oranges in the backyard, making cookies with grandma, a nighttime bonfire with friends.
These moments are far from ordinary to me. These are the moments that we will look back on and cherish, wishing we could live it again. Because time travel hasn't been invented (yet!), capturing your story through my lens gives you a visual representation of this time in your life and the journey that you are on. I hope you will invite me to document those sweet fleeting moments of life and to tell your story in the most authentic way. I can't wait to meet you!

I guess my obsession with photography and aesthetics started young with one of my favorite things...magazines. I would hoard them to carefully cut out inspiring shots and glue them into books. At one point in middle school I also had an entire wall of my room covered with magazine images. I just love looking at gorgeous images, always have. Now I am lucky enough to be someone who gets to create those images!
I took a very indirect path to get to where I am today starting off college as a fashion major and finishing with an interior design degree. Then becoming a middle school history teacher while planning weddings during the summer and now (phew) as a photographer. All of the experience I gained on this squiggly line of life has given me the exact skills I need to plan and art direct shoots, tell your history and story through the lens, consult with you on fashion options, work with shy and rambunctious kiddos, and stay seriously organized through it all.
I live in a small town in San Diego county on an acre filled with citrus and avocado trees. My husband Chris is my biggest supporter and my sometimes photo assistant. Together we share our love of travel and food with our daughter, who is becoming quite the little photographer herself. Reach out below, I love to make new friends!

A storytelling session is a 1.5 hour session all about you. Whether it be your family, your kids, you and your sweetie, you (or your child) as a graduate, you and your dog, you as your brand. Any and everything goes.
The twist is that we aren't going to go stand in a field somewhere. We are going to photograph a story. It could be picking strawberries, surfing, family game night, or a backyard pool hang. Adding a story to your photography session will allow for much more natural connection and fun to come through my camera. Let's plan something together!

-90 minute session
-creation of complete art directed portrait session
-storyboarding to include styling, props, location, and creative shots list
-100 fully edited hand selected images

A double mini session is one 30 minute session now and then an additional 30 minute session at a future date of your choice within a 1.5 year time frame. Whether it be your family, your kids, you and your sweetie, you (or your child) as a graduate, you and your dog, you as your brand. Any and everything goes.
This is perfect for those of you who don't want to have a full hour session or you have kiddos who can't hang in that long. This gives you two 30 minute sessions in one booking. No need to go looking for another photographer again, just send me an e-mail and book the second date. Bonus: the kiddos will already be acquainted with me!
